Bushmills Inn Hotel & Restaurant is a former coaching inn dating back to the 1600s, offering free private parking and an on-site bar, restaurant and cinema. Old Bushmills Distillery can be reached in a 15-minute walk.
Free Wi-Fi, an en suite bathroom and a flat-screen TV are featured in each room at Bushmills Inn, as well as their own sitting area. Locally sourced produce is used to create a wide selection of dishes in the award-winning restaurant. Mature prime Ulster sirloin of beef is on offer, as well as fish caught in local waters. A Sunday carvery featuring a selection of roast meats and desserts is also available. Guests can enjoy a drink in The Gas Bar, which is still lit by gas light. Cocktails, fine wines and a selection of whiskeys are on the menu and traditional Irish music can be heard on Saturday nights. Giant’s Causeway can be reached in a 10-minute drive and Coleraine town centre is just over 15 km away.
With stunning views of the County Down coastline and superb spa facilities, including a 20 m pool, this 4-star hotel stands in 6 acres of grounds, leading to the Royal County Down Golf Club. At the foot of the Mourne Mountains, the Slieve Donard Hotel has recently undergone a major £15 million development. With magnificent views of the Irish Sea and the mountains, the luxury spa has a sauna, a steam room, an aerobics studio and a well-equipped gym. The beautiful en suite rooms combine classical elegance and modern luxury. Rooms feature satellite TVs, seating areas and WiFi access. Most rooms have breathtaking views of the coastline or the mountains. Originally a church dating back to 1863, the O’Callaghan Davenport Hotel is located in Dublin’s Merrion Square. Air-conditioned rooms feature powerful showers, plasma-screen TVs and cashmere bed throws. Decorated in classic shades of burgundy, mahogany and cream, bedrooms have internet access, personal safes and European and US socket points. There is 24-hour room service. An extensive buffet breakfast is served each morning in Lanyons Restaurant, whilst the Presidents Bar – with its world leaders theme – serves traditional Irish lunches and dinners. The only course in Ireland to host the British Open back in 1951, it is on everyones short-list of top Irish courses. Founded in 1888 it is famous not only for its magnificent turf and superb golf holes but also for its lovely setting. According to a recent survey by ” Golf Magazine “of the worlds top 100 Courses Royal Portrush [ Dunluce Course ]comes out No.13. Host venue for the 2012 Irish Open. Will host The Open in 2019, only the second time The Open has been played in Ireland.
According to a recent ” Golf Magazine “of the worlds top 100 Courses survey Royal Co Down comes out No.5 and also as the most scenic golf course in Britain & Ireland. It’s an exhilarating location for a classic links golf course.. Designed by Old Tom Morris it opened for play in 1889. From the back tees Royal Co Down is a brute. Proud hosts of the 2007 Walker Cup matches. Ranked by “ Golf Digest “ as the No 1 golf course in the world . Host venue for Irish Open 2015
County Louth Golf Club or “Baltray” as it is more affectionately known is Links golf at is very best, with only the muted murmur of a ships engine to break the sounds of naturet. Rated in Golf Digest’s top 100 courses in the world as a “hidden gem”.. Sometimes ferocious and other times benign, it provides competition for all handicaps. Co. Louth G. C. was the host venue for the Irish Open in 2009.
The links of The European Club was designed by Pat Ruddy a renowned golf-writer and golf course designer whose work will be found also at such highly regarded venues as Ballyliffin (Glashedy), Druids Glen, Rosapenna, Port Salon, St. Margaret’s, Donegal (Murvagh) and Montreal Island Golf Club. The links features 20-holes (two extra holes are in play most days) of exciting links golf through tumbling dunes with dramatic views of the Irish Sea from no fewer than sixteen of the holes! Some of the holes play along the beach!
Universally acknowledged as one of the truly great links courses, Portmarnock is situated to the north side of Dublin, about 12 miles from the city centre. Its quality and location have made it a splendid venue for some of the game’s great events, from the British Amateur Championship of 1949, to the Canada Cup in 1960, quite apart from the 1991 Walker Cup and 12 stagings of the Irish Open. Has been rated No 1 in Ireland by Golf Digest regularly.
