Package Hotel: Blue Waters Hotel (Accros the road from the finish)
Resolute Travel have the following fantastic package for the 70.3 Triathlon. You will be met you on arrival at King Shaka Airport (if you require transfers) and taken to the Blue Waters Hotel which is across the road from the finish. This unforgettable race in the heart of the paradise city begins with a swim in near Ushaka, followed by a fast, undulating bike course that loops around the Blue Lagoon and heads along the M4 highway. The flat, two-loop run course along the promenade is sure to provide some fast times along with some spectacular views.
- 3 nights’ accommodation in Durban at The Blue Waters Hotel. Situated on the Durban Beachfront and within walking proximity to Suncoast Casino (start and finish of triathlon)

70.3 Tour Hotel
This property is 1 minute walk from the beach. Opposite Durban’s famous beachfront, Blue Waters Hotel is 250 m from the Suncoast Casino and the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium. The spacious rooms and suites feature LCD TVs along with coffee-and-tea-making facilities. Each is equipped with air conditioning and a work desk. There is also plenty of luggage storage space. Most rooms come with furnished balconies and offer a view of the Indian Ocean. Guests at Blue Waters can enjoy afternoon tea and cake in the Florida Lounge overlooking the ocean. The Versailles Restaurant provides buffet and á la carte service for lunch and dinner. Leisure facilities at the Hotel Blue Waters include an indoor swimming pool, sauna and a squash court. It is less than 3 km to Royal Durban Golf Club. The Durban North Beach area is a good location for walking, running and cycling. Hotel Blue Waters is 5 minutes’ drive from the new International Convention Centre and 10 minutes’ drive from Durban’s city centre. Durban Station is 2 km away.
SWIM:
Athletes will swim one 1.9km lap. Wetsuits will be compulsory if the water temperature is below 16° C. For Pro’s, wetsuits may be worn in temperatures up to 21.9° C. For Age Groupers, wetsuits may be worn in water with temperatures up to and including 24.5° C. (However, IRONMAN may allow age group athletes to wear wetsuits in water temperatures up to 28.8° C : these athletes will start at the back of the field in a rolling swim start and will not be eligible for age-group awards, including championship slots.) As per WTC rules, the swim will be shortened if the water temperature is between 13° and 13.9° C. If the water temperature is below 13° C, the swim will be cancelled. See official “Race Rules”. Should it be required, final details will be advised at the race briefing / on race day. Swim is a self-seeded rolling start. IRONMAN staff, water safety officials and / or medical officials reserve the right to withdraw athletes from the course if they are judged to be incapable of finishing within time or without physical risk of serious injury or death.
BIKE:
Athletes will exit the Suncoast parking lot at the Battery Beach circle, keep left and cycle contra-flow along Battery Beach road towards Moses Mabhida Stadium. The Athletes then turn right contra-flow again into Masabalala Yengwa Avenue. The Athletes then turn right again, keeping left, at the Durban Country Club onto Isaiah Mshangase Road and then left onto the M4 heading towards Ballito (Map A). Athletes then head out along the M4 highway towards Zimbali. From where the M41 joins from Umhlanga Ridge, the M4 will be closed both sides until the 1st Zimbali circle. Athletes cycle along the M4 and turn around at the first Zimbali Circle and cycle back towards Durban (Map B). Ride along the M4 (north bound lane) until the Argyle Road intersection. Here athletes turn 180 degrees and cycle back out along the M4 highway for their second (shorter) inner-loop. Athletes head out to the Glenashley off-ramp and do a 180 degree turn (Map C) back onto the M4 towards Durban, joining the other returning competitors heading towards Durban. When the athletes get to the Argyle intersection for the second time, they again turn 180 degrees and back along the M4 for only 1km to the Isaiah Ntshangase Road (Country Club) exit. Here the athletes will turn left (Map A) off the M4 and left again into Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and around King’s Park Pool. The athletes then turn left again into Battery Beach Road, travel back to the Battery Beach circle and into the Bike Transition area. IRONMAN staff, water safety officials and / or medical officials reserve the right to withdraw athletes from the course if they are judged to be incapable of finishing within time or without physical risk of serious injury or death.
RUN:
The run course for the Standard Bank IRONMAN 70.3 Durban will take place on the Promenade. Athletes will exit the Transition area onto the Promenade at Sunkist restaurant and turn right along the promenade past Suncoast. Athletes will then turn around at New Beach and head back all the way down towards Blue Lagoon. Athletes will then turn around at the jet-ski launch area and head back towards Suncoast. At the M4 underpass, the runners will turn right and proceed underneath the underpass utilising the right hand tunnel. Athletes will then turn around on the Promenade before Masabalala Yengwa Avenue and head back under the underpass on the opposite side. The runners then turn right and head back to New Beach for a second lap. The Finish Arch and VIP area will be on the Promenade in front of the Suncoast Amphitheatre.
